Adding a slideshow in WordPress is similar to adding a picture.

Here’s a summary:

  1. Make sure you have the Jetpack plugin
  2. Click at the beginning of the line where you want the slideshow.
  3. Click ‘Add Media’
  4. Follow the prompts to upload or select images
  5. Click ‘Create Gallery’
  6. Click ‘Create a new gallery’
  7. Click ‘Insert into Page’ or ‘Insert into Post’.
  8. Click Publish/Update for your page or post.

Detailed Instructions

Make sure you have the Jetpack plugin

First, make sure that the Jetpack plugin is installed:

  1. Click Plugins on your WordPress dashboard
  2. Scan for Jetpack
  3. If you don’t see it, click ‘Add New’
  4. Search on ‘Jetpack’
  5. Click ‘Install’
  6. Click ‘Activate’

Let’s assume that you’re editing a page and you’d like the slideshow beneath the text.

Click at the end of the text just after the full stop, and press ‘Enter’ to move the cursor below the text.

Now you have a choice! You can insert images from your media library, or upload them from your computer.

To insert images from your media library, make sure you’ve selected the Media Library tab. Hold down the control key, and click your images.

Selected images have a tick in the top right hand corner:

To upload images from your computer, select the Upload Files tab. Drag and drop your images into the window, or click ‘Select Files’ and find your image(s) on your computer.

Note: Resize your images before uploading them to avoid using up your space quota. 600px is usually wide enough.

You can select a row of images by clicking the first image, holding down the shift key and clicking the last image. You can add other images to your selection by holding down the control key when you click them.
